Cary Mathews to run for county board

Local father announces run for County Board

February 12, 2022, O'Fallon, Illinois - Cary Mathews announces his intention to run for the position of county board member for St. Clair County District 2. He iterated that this year, every county district will be electing board members and he wants "to provide the voters of District 2 with a choice of maintaining the status quo or moving the county in a new direction." Mr. Mathews highlighted his focus on decreasing property taxes, funding police, and spurring economic growth in the county.

Due to the decennial census results, the county districts were reapportioned by the county board in November to account for the shrinking population of Illinois. The new district maps can be found on the county website. Mr. Mathews will be running in the new District 2. The boundaries of this district are from Pausch Road on the east side, Bethel Meadows Road to the county line, Morrison Road through Main Street in Caseyville on the west side, east on O'Fallon Road through IL 159, east along I64, Old Collinsville Road to West Highway 50, south along Long Drive then west to Green Mount, north to Taylor Road, following Ogles Creek to Milburn School Road. Subdivisions in this district include Augusta Greens, Chesapeake Junction, Far Oaks, Fountain Place, Milburn Estates, Savannah Hills, Stonewolf, Tanglewood, Tuscany Ridge, and Windsor Creek.

Over the next few weeks, Mr. Mathews will be circulating petitions in District 2 to collect enough signatures to place him on the ballot for the Primary Election on June 28. His website is https://cm4cb.carymathews.info.
