Cary Mathews files Candidate Petition

This afternoon, Cary Mathews delivered his candidate petition to the St. Clair County Clerk's office. "The campaign started with collecting signatures," said Mr. Mathews, "but now we're moving into the more public phase where we need to build name-recognition leading into the Primary Election on June 28. Actually, earlier than that, because early voting and vote-by-mail begin on May 19th." Mr. Mathews does not have any Republican challengers for the Primary Election.

This past November, the county board approved a new apportionment plan for the county districts, taking into account the federal census data. The new plan eliminated one district, so this next General Election, all 28 districts will have their first board member elected. "Voters can see what the new District 2 boundries are by visiting my website, https://cm4cb.carymathews.info," said Mr. Mathews.

With the petition filed, Mr. Mathews's campaign will focus on meeting people in the community and letting them know they will have a choice on the ballot this midterm election, "Too often in St. Clair county, local offices only have a single candidate running, typically Democrat. Republicans typically don't have much reason to vote during midterm elections, but this year, in addition to county board members, there are county wide offices, state senate and representatives, and the state governor are all on the ballot; and Republicans have candidates for nearly every office! There are many reasons for Republicans to vote in 2022, especially in St. Clair county!"
